Can other members of the family attend the class?
I not only welcome other family members to attend, but encourage any and all family members to attend. I do request, however, that one person be the primary trainer for the class. Once the dog has learned the exercise, then other people can reinforce the training by working with the dog. There are also exercises that are excellent for several handlers to do at once.

Can a child handle a dog in class?
Many children are excellent trainers. I encourage children to work with the dog. However, it must be said that the child should be old enough to understand and follow instructions and that the dog not be overpowering for the child. Please consult with the instructor if there is a question.

Can I bring more than one dog to class?
You may bring more than one dog and work each for a short period of time. However, you must have a way to restrain the dog not being worked. You will miss a little of the class during the process of changing dogs. If a second handler brings your second dog, that will be considered a separate student and will require additional enrollment.

Can a handicapped handler attend the class?
Absolutely. The facility is handicapped accessible and many students with handicaps have been very successful in training their dogs. However, sometimes a handler with special needs may require specialized training or different techniques than the ones being offered in class. Consider some private lessons to supplement the class time.

How old must the dog be to attend class?
Puppies start learning at about 3 weeks of age. Of course they wouldn't be coming to class, but as soon as the puppy has had at least 2 vaccinations and is comfortable on a leash, they can start coming to class. Older dogs can benefit as well. Classes are an excellent way to bond with an older, adopted dog. We don't offer specialized classes for specific ages as yet, but all dogs benefit from the one-on-one time with their owners.
